妈妈 mā mā mum

爸爸 bà bà Dad

哥哥 gē gē Older Brother

姐姐 jiě jiě Older sister (j-air) Like if you were to say air but with a j 弟弟 dì dì Younger brother

妹妹mèi mèi Younger sister

和 hé and (only for use between nouns)

有 yǒu to have (yo)

没有 méi yǒu To not have

In Chinese, we also have what are called measure words. You have to remember these!(I always manage to forget)

If you want to say how many older brothers you have, you must say the number first and then the measure word.

The meausre word here is 个, or ge。

So to say 'I have three older brothers', I would have to say

我有三个哥哥

wǒ yǒu sān gè gē gē

Remembering that wo is I, you is to have and the measure word ge!

Moving on

家 jiā home

我家 wǒ jiā my home

口 kǒu measure word

人 rén person/people

These words probably don'tmake much sense like this, but they are used when saying how many people you have in a family。

Saying I have four people in my family would be:

我家有四口人

wǒ jiā yǒu sì kǒu rén

Instead of using ge as we did previously,we use kou。

Literally this means my family has four mouths

Again if we wanted to say his family has four people, you'd just replace ‘wo’ with ta
